All of a sudden work has crept upon me this week, and I find myself having a lot of things to do and not a lot of time to accomplish anything. However, I was able to install a new GMail add-on for Firefox, and it dings whenever I receive a new email. You can see the new add on working in the lower right of my browser. What I realized late last night was that as long as Firefox is running, it will ding. As I lay in bed and try to fall asleep every so often I hear a little ding, so if you're up for it, send me a little message late at night, and take comfort in the fact that you are keeping me awake.

Travels

I got back late last night from the travels, and I would say they were successful. I got to look at a few schools, and had a couple interviews. There were some crazy delays, an one night we ended up getting in to our hotel at around 3 in the morning as a result of some sort of funky smell coming from a distillery across the river from the airport.

Luckily I do not have that much homework, for I need to get working on the college essays and such if I want to apply early decision to anywhere. Wish me luck.

Soccer Game

We had a rematch of last years playoff game today. Just like last year, the game ended 0-0, and so we will be coming back tomorrow to do 4 quarters (10 minutes each) of overtime It should be fun, so come down and watch at 4:30 if you have nothing better to do. It's golden goal, so first team to score wins. If nobody scores then , we advance to penalty kicks. Should be interesting.

In Rainbows

If you haven't heard, the record industry is in a big slump. Madonna just dumped her record label, and Radiohead just released "In Rainbows" sans record contract. They distribute it through the In Rainbows website and I just downloaded it. The price is whatever you make it. You get to mark down how much you want to spend. Already it has "sold" over 1.2 million copies in just 5 days. It's farily simple to download, all you need is an email address (does not even have to be valid) and then you are able to download the full album. Off to write college essays.

20 minutes into the soccer game on Friday I rolled my right ankle and heard every bone associated with my ankle crack simultaneously. I walked it off, but it began to hurt again so on Saturday I went to the doctor and they sent me to the radiology department at a nearby hospital. They took some X-rays and, after asking for them to print an extra copy of the x rays for a souvenir, I got the official diagnosis that nothing was broken or sprained, just really really bruised.

I've been limping my way around the house for the weekend, but it's slowly healing.

As I type this I am staring out a window at the ground, 30,000 feet below me. The 33,000 Southwest employees have treated us well so far. I already did some homework, and will update this once we get to the hotel. I have been so fortunate as to become the proud new owner of Life and Style Weekly, Us weekly, and the September 17th issue of People magazine, all compliments of the seat pocket. Here is the world, as I currently take it in:

I am seated on a flight headed for Pittsburgh, and managed to get the row farthest away from the front of the plane, and closest to the bathroom. The seat was chosen on the basis that between me and my mother, who is situated two seats to my left, there is an empty seat on this otherwise booked flight-space that I need. That seat has not been on my mind. What has been on my mind is what is to the direct right of me, the aisle. So far, I have been successful in controlling everybody, and have not let anybody through to the throne. “Nope.” I say, gazing at them with assurance, as they look in a confused manner upon my barricade of backpacks, shoes, and suitcases.*

*It was at this point while typing that the stewardess came over to me and asked me to kindly shut down the laptop and prepare for landing, which left me with the unfortunate option of explaining, at 1:30 in the morning, why the anecdote will remain unfinished for all eternity. Goodnight.

So last night there was the annual Killian Movie Night Extravaganza. We tied a couple bedsheets to a soccer goal and projected Shark Tale and Twister onto the makeshift movie screen. It was pretty fun.

I filmed another video yesterday (Entitled Clouds) , but it won't be released for at least a month. I have two videos waiting in the queue of "videos still waiting to be released." After those are released I will be able to go ahead and release clouds after it is edited.

The Google Analytics that I had running on the page suddenly stopped so I had to re-install it on the site. If you do not know what Google Analytics is, it is a web program that measures traffic to the site.

I know that I have not updated in a while, but I have a legitimate excuse this time. There was a huge storm in Chicago if you have not heard, and we were fortunate enough to have our power knocked out for almost 4 days. I was able to make a 50 minute video of all the damage to our house and the surrounding neighbor with commentary from members of the family, and will put it on Youtube in a couple segments after editing it.

As of now I have to put that video on my computer, and somehow find the time to edit it. Check back for more updates on that soon.

According to this source, 0.5% of all men in the world are descendants of Genghis Khan. That means that 1 out of every 200 men in the world is genetically related to Mr. Khan. If this is true, odds, are, somebody at the same website you are at right now is related to Genghis Khan.

In other news, I had said I would post the video about the tree falling down, and I have done just that.

We had the tree cleaned up the next day, and I had work that same day, so I had to make the video in the morning before work. My camera is weird and the brightness is never completely focused so that is the excuse if it does not look like I filmed this at 7:25 am.

I won't be able to update in the next couple days so I am writing a post right now instead. People have started to comment on the posts which is definitely encouraged. I have a video recorded that I am going to release as soon as I edit it (which might be a while) but stick around for that. I'll try to make that be finished as soon as I can. I am really enjoying this new template that the site is using, and I think I might stick with it for a little while, if not permanently. College research and priorities are picking up and so that gives me less and less time to work on anything for the site concerning videos, but as mentioned I will definitely try to get a new one up soon. As for now though, you might have to go through your usual routine of checking today's most popular videos on Youtube.

The site has received a makeover, and is now much more visually stunning to the eye. The links and media has all moved to the left side of the screen, and I really like how it looks already. Over the weekend I worked on an all html template, but I don't think it is going to really work out. If you want to see it you can go to the blog test page where I test out anything before I put it up on the site. (On a sidenote if you don't understand the text on that page, you can learn about it here.)

But back to the template I like it and it is pretty clean. I took off some parts at the top that were below the banner, but they will be replaced. If you want leave a comment about the template.

As you can see, there has been a lack of updates, but this has been for a good reason. My family is now the proud owner of a Wii, and so that takes precedence over anything else. I have still been editing the video (though not nearly as fast as I should be) and that should be coming out sometime soon.

I was browsing through the internet and found this site.(Click "Cached" under the first search result.) A while back somebody blogged about the daily drawings I was putting up.

Things in the video editing world are going slower than planned. The sound is the hardest part, but once that is all done it should be basically complete.

Any page that has the words "this page intentionally left blank" completely defeats the purpose of the page. By being there, it falsifies itself through its very existence. I propose it be changed. Instead, print "This page intentionally left blank - except for the previous statement and this statement explaining the previous statement." in white ink. It's foolproof.

Unless you waited in line for 3 hours or ordered one online, you don't have an iPhone. But you can act like you do with the paper iPhone. Cut it out and fold it into a life-size iPhone during your summer free time. Link

The lack of posts has been due to the fact that I am now working and I am not at the computer at much. Although, as promised I have been editing a video and it should be out soon. Keep in mind that the podcast still has a brand spankin' new video that is not on youtube yet, but will be officially released sometime next week (entitled "Video Game.") Apparently it is good because for the first time I got a few emails from strangers who liked it, and that has never happened before. More updates will come in the next day or two, and stay on your toes for a new video.

This week is going well. I updated one of the videos because the quality was a bit low for some reason. It is back to normal now. In similar news the podcast is going smoothly. However, the podcast is not just for people with video iPods. You are still able to get all of the videos published on the podcast simply by having iTunes and subscribing to the podcast. You can view the videos simply through iTunes.

There has also been a more constant stream of visitors. I think it is due to the more frequent updates. I'll keep them coming.

As I write this it has just recovered from a torrential downpour. It is now bright and sunny out.
At first all the hype about the cicadas was to me a bit much. However, I am beginning to see their point. It is not that there are a lot of them in one concentrated spot. Instead, they are dispersed throughout the yard. They leave no spot pure. They cover the bushes and ground, making it hard to go outside barefoot for fear of a *crunch* sound followed by a sticky resin stuck to the bottom of your foot.

Summer is almost here, and with summer comes lots of summer updates, as well as new developments. I have been working on these already, and they should be coming out soon. The reason that I try not to announce these things too early is that they end up falling through some how. I have already started a test run and have a select few people testing it. Once I figure out all the problems I will be able to officially announce what it is.

Hopefully when school gets out there will be more time to make movies, and so keep your eyes open for new movies being updated within the next month or two.

On a different note, if you have yet to play bloons, why not give it a shot. There are 100 levels in all; enough to keep you entertained for a while.

Math Puzzle

I have tried and asked others, but cannot seem to get the answer.
I'm beginning to think that there isn't one.
The puzzle is simple yet difficult.

Using the numbers 2, 4, 4, 6, and 6, make the number 55.

RULES

You can multiply, divide, add, subtract, square, square root. However, in order to square/square root a number, you need a 2. Likewise, to cube root a number, you need a 3.

You can only use each number once, and cannot do something to the zero power unless you have previously gotten a zero with other numbers.

Also, you cannot combine numbers into bigger numbers. (Example (44+66) /2.) Otherwise, you can do anything.

I can get pretty close, but have yet to get 55.
54=4x4x(6/2) +6
56=6 x (6+2) +4+4
55=?

I have been asked to explain this.

If you look at the chart at the end of the trick, it is no coincidence that the numbers 0, 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, and 90 all have the same symbol. This is because no matter what two digit number you pick, you always end up with one of those numbers after all of the calculations are done.

Lets say you pick a number in the 30's. It doesn't matter what number you pick, they all end up, once you do the math, being 27.

31-(3+1)=27
32-(3+2)=27
33-(3+3)=27
34-(3+4)=27

No matter what number you pick to be in the "ones" digit, you end up subtracting that same digit from the original number, and you're left with a multiple of 10 (in this case 30.) As the number you pick gets higher, the number you subtract gets higher.

Therefore, your number will always be one of 0, 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, or 90, and because all of those numbers have the same sign, the gopher is able to correctly guess the sign every time.

It has been a while since a text update, and so I figure I will take a few minutes out of my day to entertain the masses. First off, I have compiled a list of things I have done since the last real update. It goes as follows:

• Taken an ACT test.
• Seen a dead cat.
• Played regulation dodgeball
• Installed an environment-friendly lightbulb
• Built a Harmonica neck strap out of wire/duck tape
• Solved a rubix cube without peeling off the stickers
• Watched a pizza thrown at a guys face with a slow motion replay

And that's about it. I had a little help with the rubix cube, but technically it was a legitimate way to solve it.

I had a little time, and decided to make a drawing in the style of my old Jabberbox comics. Click the image to view. Spring break started today, which is pretty handy.

The reason for this comic on the left is that it is celebrating the final collection of all comics/images published for jeffkillian.com. All of the glorious comics and pictures have been compiled into one collection, are available to download here. Download it to your desktop, and save it for a rainy day. Altogether, there are 221 images.

Comparing Images

First, go here.

Then, click any of the links on the left. A movie should load, and two images should be flashing, one after another in the movie. The two images are different, but only slightly. The aim of the game is to try to distinguish what is different between the two images.

As you can clearly see, the format is completely different than normal. This is because I switched from using wordpress to using blogger. There are a ton of reasons why for this. One is that blogger is much more customizable, and much more easy to use. Also, it fits in with what I want jeffkillian.com to look like. Another reason is that it is run by google, so you know it must have some good qualities. Email me and tell me what you think of the new look.

The reason that I have not posted for a while is that I have been busy editing a new video entitled: Hanz and Sebastian 3: Pirates. Watching the video in it’s entirety, I think a title change is necessary to: Hanz and Sebastian 3: Making Complete fools of ourselves.
